If you do not design the future someone or something else will design it for you.
In my years of interacting with students, I have gained insight into the ‘holy grail’ of success among students. Contrary to popular belief, it is not marked that is an indicator of success. A survey done among the top ‘achievers’ in life found them to be mediocre or a little above mediocre students. But what set them apart was their desire to know and think laterally. A student once asked me “why should we learn boring history? Why can’t people make a VR (virtual reality) walk‐in video of Harappan civilization, and we can walk‐in and never forget Harappa.” A student of Class III said, “Why is Chennai so hot? Can’t we have a big AC to cool full Chennai”? A ridiculous thought, Maybe! Impossible, Maybe Not! The job on our hand, as parents and teachers are to be able to satiate the student’s hunger for knowledge and change and guide them with the responsibility that God has rested upon us. True, there is more we can learn from children than they can from us. A school that takes cognizance of this fact will be the one to provide the right platform for students to take off into the world of SUCCESS.
